What is a be-back in door-to-door sales?

Be-back: A be-back is a prospect who asks you to come back later instead of deciding now, and the return visit itself. Reps track be-backs because some turn into sales and many do not.

"Come back tomorrow" can be a polite no or a real request, for example when a spouse is not home. Experienced reps test it by setting a specific time and asking what will be different then.

Keep be-backs in your canvassing app with the time and the reason, and return when you said you would. A short list of real be-backs is worth more than a long list of people who wanted you off the porch.
